A press release announces. An editorial feature resonates. The first says “we exist and did a thing.” The second says “here’s a story worth your ten minutes” — and readers, editors, and search engines treat them very differently.
The anatomy of each
Press releases are written for the company: inverted pyramid, quotes nobody said, boilerplate. They have their place — formal announcements, compliance, news wires — but they rarely get read by humans who weren’t paid to.
Editorial features are written for the reader: a person with a problem, a turning point, a result, and a perspective. They read like the outlet’s own journalism because that’s the standard they’re held to.
When to use which
Launching a funding round or a product with hard news value? A release can help. Building authority, trust, and a narrative that compounds? You want features — crafted stories in outlets your audience actually reads.
Our editorial desk exists for the second one. We find the angle, write the story to the outlet’s standards, and place it through relationships built over years. That’s Ripple+ in a nutshell.
